South Sydney Rabbitohs flyer Alex Johnston won’t sign an extension with the club just yet as be considers offers from rivals in a bid to lock down a permanent fullback role.

Injured superstar Greg Inglis is South Sydney’s first choice custodian but that hasn’t stopped Johnston admitting his heart sits with the number 1 jersey.

“One hundred per cent,” Johnston said.

“I always thought I was a fullback and played fullback growing up, so in the top grade all the chances I get this year I’ll be putting my best foot forward.

“I love playing fullback. I’ve got a taste for it so I’m looking to be playing fullback going forward.”

Johnston has played all his NRL at the Rabbitohs but couldn’t guarantee he’d be at Redfern in 2018.

“Everything’s working in the background. At the moment, I’ve really just got to focus on footy and focus on playing fullback.”
