No Penrith vs Parramatta as Panthers CEO slams new NRL draw

Penrith Panthers CEO Brian Fletcher is livid with the NRL after the 2017 draw was announced on Thursday.

In a mind-boggling decision, Penrith will not host fierce rivals Parramatta at Pepper Stadium.

“It’s a major disappointment,” Fletcher told AAP.

“It’s one game that would be sold out for sure – it’s good for the league, Parramatta and Penrith. But apparently (the NRL) didn’t see it that way.”

Fletcher also took offense to Penrith’s round 4 clash with Newcastle to be played in the controversial new 6pm Friday time slot.

“It’d be the last timeslot you have at Penrith”.

The furious CEO wanted the NRL to include all 16 clubs to look at the draft draw in the future.

“In all businesses, they do a draft and give it to their customers to see whether it works or not,” he said.

“If you got all the clubs in the room when they’re doing the draw, you’re able to compromise with other clubs.”
