English prop Luke Burgess will join Catalans on a two-year contract beginning in 2017 after a long stint in Australia where he spent the majority of his time with his brothers at the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

Burgess then signed with Manly but played few minutes for the Brookvale club.

“I am delighted to have signed for the Catalans Dragons and to be returning to play in Super League” he said.

“The club has a very talented playing squad and for much of last season looked to be on course for at least a top four place in the Super League, at the same time playing a very attractive brand of rugby league.

“I am very excited at the prospect of doing what I can over the next two seasons to bring success to the club and their supporters.”

Meanwhile former Sydney Roosters forward Lama Tasi has re-signed with the Salford Red Devils after a short stay at St. Helens. Tasi has previously played for the Red Devils.

Another former Rooster, 29-year-old Setaimata Sa, is returning to Australia after playing for the Widnes Vikings in 2016.
