Retiring Brisbane Broncos legend Corey Parker has nothing to worry about according to the man himself after footage emerged over the weekend of the veteran lock making contact with Gold Coast tyro Ryan James at Suncorp Stadium.
The 58th minute incident appears to show Parker leaning toward the Titans captain and making contact with his head.
But Parker said it was certainly no headbutt.
“I’ve seen some headbutts, but that was certainly not in the headbutt rule by my opinion anyway,” he told Sky Sports Radio’s Big Sports Breakfast.
“If anything it was like a cheek slap, like cheek-to-cheek.
“The fact that it was being thrown around over the weekend of potentially missing games was a little bit over the top I reckon, to be honest.”
Parker then shifted the blame for the contact to James.
“He wouldn’t let me in the scrum,” he said.
“I think he was concerned about getting out of the scrum, like being held in the scrum.”
The Broncos now head to Townsville for a grand final re-match with the North Queensland Cowboys who fell to Melbourne in week one.
