Canberra’s wrecking machine centre Joey Leilua says his experience of the 2010 grand final – a losing effort for the Sydney Roosters against St George Illawarra – can inspire the Raiders to victory.

The Raiders play Penrith on Saturday night with a spot in the preliminary final on the line.

Leilua is the only Raider to have played a grand final and it’s that loss that can help his young Canberra teammates.

“I’ve told the boys time and time again just go through the same routine, don’t change anything and give it your all because these opportunities don’t come around too often,” he said.

“I usually let my actions do the talking because I’m not a speaking man.

“But every time I do – the boys have a laugh because I never speak – I tell them to never let their teammate down.”
