Canberra has given Cronulla the clap. Made famous by the Icelandic soccer team, the Viking Clap was adopted by the Canberra Raiders.
Sharks hooker Michael Ennis then rubbed it in Canberra supporter’s faces post-match after their win in week one of the finals. Now Sharks fans have stolen it from the Raiders and will be using it on Sunday at the grand final.
“It is not the Viking Clap any more, it is the Shark Clap,” Sharks supporters club president James Manley told AAP.
“And we will be bringing it out again on Sunday. We can’t wait.
“Ricky (Stuart) is not very popular in the Shire.
“That was a part of it. But is ours now and we intend to keep it ours.
“We took it from the Raiders, of course. But where did they get it from?
“It wasn’t theirs to begin with.”
