Burleigh Bears co-captain Jamie Dowling, may miss the NRL Interstate Challenge at ANZ Stadium on grand final day after being sentenced over cocaine charges from his time at the Gold Coast Titans.

Dowling was still celebrating Burleigh’s Intrust Super Cup title win over Redcliffe when he then appeared in court less than a day later where he was given a two year probation from the incident in 2014.

Condition of probation prevents Dowling from travelling outside the state of Queensland.

Dowling’s lawyer, Campbell MacCallum, has requested an urgent application for Dowling to travel to Sydney for the big match.

“The offences occurred a number of years ago and Mr Dowling has proven his offending was concentrated to a time in his life when he was depressed and injured,” he said.
