Before Wests Tigers fans lynch coach Jason Taylor for dropping Robbie Farah, try to remember that Wayne Bennett sacked Immortal Wally Lewis from the Brisbane Broncos at the end of the 1989 season.
The Broncos had struggled since coming into the NSWRL in 1988 and Bennett could see that young players like Allan Langer, Kevin Walters and Kerrod Walters were the future of the club.
Bennett wasn’t finished there and punted fellow legend Gene Miles twelve months later.
Brisbane won the 1992 and 1993 premierships in a canter and it was Langer and the Walters boys who led the charge.
Farah is 32, two years older than Lewis when he was shown the door at the Broncos, why isn’t Taylor allowed to drop him?
Why are fans so angry?
In the long run, would they prefer to lose James Tedesco, Luke Brooks and Mitch Moses?
Those three may not want to see Farah go but it’s in their best interests and Taylor knows it.
Suck it up Wests Tigers fans and move on.
Support the club – not the player.

It looks like Jarryd Hayne is going to draw this thing out as long as he can as he’s now been spotted in secret meetings with the Australian Rugby Union. It makes you wonder why he’d play for Fiji in the Sevens when it immediately bans him from representing the Wallabies. Parramatta let him chase his “dream” in good faith and it’s a disgrace he’s even considering playing for any other sporting club in this country – even if he’s meeting with the ARU was to just bump up his new deal with the Eels. Hayne is fast losing the fans.

Good on the Rugby League World Cup as their venues for the 2017 tournament are a breath of fresh air. Why does Sydney need the World Cup when we already think we ARE the world? Someone at the Sydney Morning Herald on Thursday said Sydney was the birthplace of the game. Pretty sure it began in England and was played in at the same time in both New South Wales and Queensland.

If you aren’t enjoying the Cronulla Sharks story in 2016 then there is something wrong with you. This team is an amazing outfit and have won games they had no right to win on their way to fourteen straight wins. I’ll be getting down to Shark Park in the final rounds to see what all the fuss is about. And good on Ben Barba while we’re at it. His career was in dire straits after being let go by the Broncos but has found the form that once made him the Dally M Medal winner.

A shout out to all former players of the Liverpool Bulls Rugby club who are having a huge reunion on Saturday night at the Liverpool Catholic Club. I’ll be there – should be a good night!
