Robinson’s verbal attack on the NRL after Roosters 20-18 Anzac Day loss

Sydney Roosters coach Trent Robinson has lashed the NRL Bunker and referee Ben Cummins after the Roosters went down 20-18 to St George Illawarra on Anzac Day at Allianz Stadium.

Robinson didn’t miss in his appraisal of the officials with many calls going against the glamour club.

“You don’t want to make excuses for a loss but I’m not going to sit here and allow poor decisions to go by and I’m not going to allow referees not to talk in the way that they should to our players over years,” Robinson said.

Robinson then unloaded on Cummins.

“Ben Cummins has been horrible and disrespectful to our players for many years. It’s continued. We have good high percentage win-rate up until this year and we have won two games under him. He speaks poorly to our players and won’t look them in the eye. The way he spoke to Jake during the game was unacceptable,” he said.

“The bunker decided to be the on-field ref today. They jumped in at every occasion. They’re not the match review committee. It has to be a ‘reportable’ offence. The match review committee spend hours on Monday and Tuesday mornings to get that right. You can’t play match review committee in a split second.

“You have to create change. We’re not saying we should have won today. I’m saying we should have had a chance to win today.”
