Current and former indigenous NRL players have come out in support of the All Stars match after reports surfaced that the concept was on the chopping block.

Manly-Warringah prop Josh Starling took to Twitter to grieve his issues which included the Auckland Nines where a number of his team-mates at the Sea Eagles went down with injury.

“Basically saying cause it doesnt make money its not worth it never mine the significance it has to people. Typical” – @Starlo33.

“cause the nrl makes too much money off 9s to admit it’s a risk to players. All stars will cop the blame” – @Starlo33.

St George Illawarra star Joel Thompson also agreed with a fan who couldn’t understand why the Auckland Nines was held in higher esteem by the NRL than the All Stars.

Meanwhile former Parramatta favourite Dean Widders retweeted one of Starling’s posts with the line, “Need to start fighting to save All stars”.
