New Manly enforcer Martin Taupau has not ruled out a premiership for the Sea Eagles in his first campaign for the club since switching from Wests Tigers.
Taupau joins fellow big name recruits Nate Myles, Dylan Walker, Lewis Brown and Coach Trent Barrett.
“There’s something in the waters over there. We needed change, and that’s what’s happened,” Taupau said.
“The sky’s the limit for us. Anything is achievable.
“There’s a sense of self belief in our team – not only within the players, but also in the coaching staff, the admin, and our fans.
“A few of the players like Daly Cherry-Evans and the boys who have played in the past, are saying there’s a new feeling.”
Meanwhile Canberra Raiders Physical Performance Coach Nigel Ashley-Jones has named forward Jarrad Kennedy the best trainer of the off-season ahead of Englishman Josh Hodgson and Rhys Kennedy.
“The big change is that the bottom end of our squad, our less fit players, are now much fitter and have hit some really good targets,” Ashley-Jones said.
“Some of our new recruits, Joey Leilua as one example, have really come good as well.”
