Grand Final still haunts Kahu but has chance at redemption against England

Brisbane Broncos winger Jordan Kahu admits that losing the NRL Grand Final will never leave him but has the chance to shake some of those demons as New Zealand continue their build-up to their first match on their United Kingdom tour.

“It is probably going to haunt me for the rest of my life,” Kahu said.

“Or at least until I win [grand final]. But that happens – it’s footy. Someone has got to lose and we were really unlucky and lost.

Luckily enough for Kahu he’s on tour with the Kiwis and gets a chance, if picked, to face England in a three test series.

“If I wasn’t playing it would probably just fester inside me and build up.

“I’m pretty lucky I get to play again so I can get those out of there.”

Kahu was uncertain if he was in coach Stephen Kearney’s top 17 but was itching to get onto the field.

“I’m rapt to be here. I’ll still be happy if I don’t play any games – just happy to be in the mix but it would be great to get a couple of games in and put on that black jersey.”
