The Grand Final re-match will come quicker than expected with the North Queensland Cowboys and Brisbane Broncos set to clash on February 6th in Bundaberg.
North Queensland and the Broncos are expected to select almost full-strength sides before setting off for the United Kingdom and the World Club Series scheduled for February 19th. The match in Bundaberg will be played on the same weekend as the Auckland Nines hindering both club’s chances of taking out the carnival tournament.
“We expect it will be a young and exciting team at the Nines so everyone will get an opportunity, whether it be in Bundaberg or at the Nines,” Cowboys GM Peter Parr told The Townsville Bulletin.
“We certainly expect the Bundaberg team to be pretty strong.”
Parr has also urged for officials to hand Townsville the 2016 ANZAC Test ahead of Perth.
“What we’ve been able to demonstrate over the last few years is that we are capable of hosting big games of rugby league.
“Our regional tour of North Queensland has showed the exceptional support our games enjoy with fans up here and there’s no doubt people from far and wide would travel to attend this game.”
