South Sydney’s Dylan Walker and Aaron Gray are in a stable condition after being rushed to hospital on Tuesday morning after adverse reactions to post-season surgeries on injuries.
The drugs in question are reportedly Tramadol and oxycodone.
“Our priority is two men are in hospital and we keep our fingers crossed they turn out good. Anything we need to investigate we wil,” NRL CEO Dave Smith said.
“I know this morning was pretty serious and that headlines the situation. Our worries are about welfare.”
Walker and Gray have been close friends since childhood and were found in the early hours of Tuesday at a house in the Eastern Suburbs.
“It’s too early to know all the circumstances,” Souths boss John Lee said.
“The severity of what’s happened is still unclear.
“All I can say is their condition is not life threatening and they are both stable.”
