Blocker Not Worried About Blues Without Gallen

New South Wales legend Steve Roach isn’t fazed if Blues skipper Paul Gallen doesn’t make the field for the opening State of Origin match.

“There’s a couple of guys lining up this weekend that could potentially replace the injured Paul Gallen in NSW’s back row for Origin I” Roach said in his column for The Illawarra Mercury.

“Tyson Frizell, Josh Jackson, and Wade Graham are a few guys who will be pushing for a spot in Daley’s team.

“I’ve spent the past few days in camp with the Country team and a lot of these players are relishing the chance to train alongside different blokes and under a new coach.

“We might see a bit of a changing of the guard for NSW this year if Gallen isn’t fit to play.

“He has led the state brilliantly for a long time but it might be a chance for a Frizell or Jackson to step up.”
