We can confirm earlier reports that the New Zealand Warriors are set to announce the signing of Sydney Roosters prodigy Roger Tuivasa-Sheck right out from under the noses of the tricolours.
Tuivasa-Sheck was being groomed for a number of years to become the fullback after Anthony Minichiello’s retirement with the kiwi becoming fulltime custodian this season.
It is believed the Warriors’ offer is almost double the Roosters at around the $800,000 mark per season.
Sam Tomkins is reportedly heading back to the European Super League at the end of 2015 due to homesickness.
Roosters CEO Brian Canavan told AAP earlier Wednesday that he wanted to keep RTS but couldn’t match other offers.
“We’re very keen to keep him, but we do have a thing called the salary cap,” he told AAP.
“If the reported figures are correct from other clubs, we can’t go anywhere near that.”
