Fox Sports’ Brett Kimmorley believes Canterbury-Bankstown should be stripped of competition points after the crazy scenes on Good Friday that led referees and officials being bombarded with drink bottles.
Writing in his weekly foxsports.com.au column, the former Bulldogs halfback was strong in his stance and says fans won’t get it until the team is hit where it hurts most.
“Fan behaviour from the Bulldogs was extremely poor. They need to clean that up” Kimmorley writes.
“I don’t know how the NRL can do that apart from stripping points.
“The club has done a wonderful job turning the culture around. I was part of their rebuilding phase when I went there as a player.
“The mark was overstepped by the players on Friday night and that led to the fans overstepping their mark as well.
“The fans will be mindful of points being stripped off their players and club. They do sincerely think it is their club and the last thing they would want is to be docked points so that is something the NRL does need to look at.
“If you fine the players and the club — it doesn’t work in the current climate. Canterbury Leagues Club has a lot of money — it is not going to affect them.”
