Stewart’s Gift Bucks Broncos

The South Sydney Rabbitohs have kicked off their premiership defence with a thumping 36-6 win over a Brisbane Broncos outfit that never really looked in the contest.

Adam Reynolds opened the scoring with a penalty goal before Corey Parker equaled the scores at two minutes later.

From there, Souths took the game by the scruff of the neck, dominating the ruck with and without the ball. The opening try of the game came sooner after when Adam Reynolds called an audible on the last tackle and passed to Dylan Walker who left opposite Jack Reed in his wake to score at the northern end.

Another Reynolds goal made it 10-2 at the break.

Brisbane tried hard but simply couldn’t put it together.

Anthony Milford was missing for most of the night and looked out of place at five-eight while the Rabbitohs had plenty to be happy about.

Recruit Glenn Stewart was our man of the match and looks as fit as he’s ever been. His work on the fringes with Adam Reynolds gives the Rabbitohs another dangerous attacking weapon.

Rabbitohs 36 (Dylan Walker, John Sutton, Greg Inglis, Luke Keary, Joel Reddy, tries; Adam Reynolds 8 goals) defeated Broncos 6 (Matt Gillett, tries; Corey Parker 1 goals)

@The81stMinute Player of the Year Points:
