Gasnier Wants NRL War Chest Used In Other Areas

St George Illawarra legend Mark Gasnier believes NRL CEO Dave Smith’s “war chest” shouldn’t necessarily be used to attract the biggest names to the competition but instead use the extra money in other areas.

“I don’t believe we have the luxury to chase other codes [players] yet,” Gasnier said on Fox Sports.

“I’d rather players being able to earn what they want. Use that war chest to give to the rural and local juniors.

“We haven’t got a strong enough platform yet [to go after players], there’s a better way to spend that money than with a war chest.”

Meanwhile, the whispers continue that Nate Myles is seeking a release from the Gold Coast Titans to join the Melbourne Storm.

“He just makes teams better,” Kent said on his show NRL 360.

“He helps them win. Any football club wants him in their team.”
