Manly-Warringah officials are reportedly fuming that their off-contract star halfback Daly-Cherry Evans has been so public in his current negotiations with rival clubs.
Since debuting for the Sea Eagles, Cherry-Evans has won a premiership and represented his state and country. But now reports from inside Manly suggest that Cherry-Evans’ popularity at the club is at an all-time low. Head coach Geoff Toovey and captain Jamie Lyon are believed to be two of the top kingpins angry at the way the halfback and his manager Gavin Orr have gone about their business.
In the last week, Cherry-Evans has been to see the Gold Coast and Cronulla and both meetings have been made very public.
Pushed for a comment on The Australian’s Brent Read’s opinion piece today, a high ranking Manly insider told The81stMinute.com that those in charge of retention should chase Kieran Foran harder with the many allocated for Cherry-Evans.
“It’s a matter of respect and the way his [Cherry-Evans] management have gone about this is downright bullshit,” the source said.
“Give that money to Foran.”
