Premiership-winner believes Sharks are destined for the grand final as Panthers lock up Cleary duo until end of 2027

Premiership-winning lock-forward Scott Sattler believes Craig Fitzgibbon’s Cronulla Sharks can win the premiership with the Sharks currently sitting second with a 4-1 record.

The only team above them currently are the undefeated, defending premiers Penrith.

“I think Cronulla can win the comp,” Sattler told SEN on Wednesday.

“That’s based off their coach and their smart players. They’ve got really good, young, exciting and fast players as well. The best part about them is that you look at their reserve grade side and they have fantastic depth in every position.

“I think they’re a massive premiership threat.”

Meanwhile, Sattler’s old club Penrith have locked in coach Ivan Cleary and son Nathan on contract extensions that may see Nathan play out his career as a one-club player.

The pair will remain at the foot of the mountains until at least the end of 2027.
