The high-flying Parramatta Eels are currently in the headlines for the all the wrong reasons with experts and fans alike wondering if their squad is staying down and playing for penalties after their win over Melbourne last round.

Melbourne came out after the game and questioned what was happening while fans and experts like Gorden Tallis went after the Eels.

Even Storm’s legendary coach Craig Bellamy hinted at the Eels staying down at the press conference after the game.

“He’s one of those guys coming off his try line, Minnie Mouse would tackle him and he’d stay down but when he’s going for a try the Incredible Hulk can’t stop him” Tallis said on Triple M of Maika Sivo’s efforts against Melbourne.

“He’s one of those guys Sivo, he’s got a bit of a lay down in him.”

Nathan Brown was another one of the accused of staying down and milking penalties against the Storm.

But there may have been some evidence that most of us missed back over a month ago when the Eels clashed with Wests Tigers and a passage of play between Eels forward Nathan Brown and Wests Tigers rookie Shawn Blore.

Late in the contest, Brown charges into Wests Tigers and stays down – clutching at the top of his head and neck. Once the penalty is blown, the forward springs to his feet. Moments later he runs into Blore once more and again gets buckled.

See the footage between Brown and Blore for yourself below.
