Gallen hits back at Fletcher and Cleary

Paul Gallen isn’t making friends in a hurry after the Cronulla champion hit back at Wests Tigers Coach Ivan Cleary and Sydney Roosters legend Bryan Fletcher in two separate spot fires set to rage for at least another week.

Gallen first took aim at Cleary after he questioned Gallen’s diving antics in Cronulla’s win over Wests at Leichhardt Oval on Saturday night.

“Ivan’s got a fair bit to worry about — his team had more than 50 per cent possession, won a 7-2 penalty count, playing against a side that had 60 per cent completion rate and still didn’t get a win,” Gallen told Channel Nine.

“He should probably worry about his own backyard before he worries about me.”

The G-Train then turned his attention to Fletcher who labelled Gallen “selfish” for agreeing to pull on the City Origin jersey again ahead of a younger talent.

“Yeah that’s particularly disappointing, he’s obviously got a big platform now being on TV most nights,” Gallen went on.

“But being a former player he should know how hard the game is and probably not pass judgement so critically, especially something so personal.

“He can judge me on the field, judge me on my performances that’s fine, but calling me selfish is having a crack at me personally.”

Gallen will lead City at Mudgee on Sunday in the final City vs Country Origin match.
