NRL Chief Executive Todd Greenberg has taken to Twitter to answer a number of fan questions with a heavy focus on a perception the game has gone soft.
Some believed the NRL needed to allow punching and the shoulder charge back into the game with the CEO hitting back with vigour:
Disagree. Game is not soft. Tougher than ever but also cleaner & safer! Greatest game of all doesn't need shoulder charges and punching! https://t.co/wlxLvhNEtF

Disagree. Punching is a lack of discipline & results in your team playing with a disadvantage/player off the field.Common sense=no punching! https://t.co/BsLSDLSvSh

Nothing 'grey' about this issue. If you punch you'll go to the bin.If match review deem it serious (with force) you'll spend time on sideline https://t.co/ERosXJN01b

Serious punching incidents will attract "striking" charges & min 200 points.Fines apply to less serious cases.Sin bin is a massive deterrent https://t.co/uh0Ms8TelY

On the final six rounds of fixtures to be decided later in the year:
Do you really have your weekends fully planned out from now till the end of July..?…but it is part of our current Broadcast contacts https://t.co/TTKJdIchRL

Not patronising just being honest! We have contracts in place with broadcasters that include a provision for the last 6 rounds. https://t.co/mwe0nSf3We

Locked squad numbers for players:
Considered & discussed but positional numbers as utilised for 100+ years retained for now. Very polarising topic for fans old & new…..! https://t.co/Mq3XBf5XrM
