Melbourne Storm skipper Cameron Smith says there has been no pressure or discussion about his future from teammates Brandon Smith or Harry Grant.

Grant is currently on loan at Wests Tigers and has had a breakout season – winning the81stminute.com’s Rookie of the Year award on Monday night while Brandon is a long-term Kiwi International dummy half who has been patiently waiting in the wings.

Both Grant and Brandon Smith are waiting on a decision from the legendary 37-year-old.

“I’m living with Brandon every day, and he hasn’t once raised the subject,” Smith told The Sydney Morning Herald.

“As far as Harry is concerned, I’ve spoken to him a few times this season, the last time being only two days ago, and he didn’t raise it at all. He’s committed to being back in Melbourne.

“Some have said I’m selfish, that I’m not looking out for the club and have no care about those two young fellas. But when it comes to making a decision as big as retiring, I don’t want to rush it. I don’t want to regret making that call. If I make that decision at 37, it’s very hard to comeback. I need to get it right and I’ll take the time needed to make that call.

“Everyone at Melbourne knows the person I am; that I’m not going to jeopardise the future of our club if I was to stay in Melbourne and force those guys out.”

Smith also confirmed he would not be making a comeback for the Maroons in November.
