Coaching great Phil Gould says this may get worse at the Brisbane Broncos as the battling club go from one issue to the next.
Speaking on the Wide World of Sports, Gould believes each player is only out for themselves and the club has been in denial for some time.
“I think for a lot of the time they were deluded, they were in denial and honestly thought they could pull themselves out with the group that they had,” Gould said.
“We’ve got players now saying they want to leave the club – that’s never happened to the Broncos.
“[David] Fifita signed down the road, albeit for a lot of money, players just didn’t do that it in the past. If you’re a representative class player, you don’t want to play for a team coming second-last and last if that’s where the Broncos’ destiny is.
“Right now, what you’re seeing is every man for himself, self-preservation. They have just scattered and that’s the way they’ve played all year.”
