James Graham hopes he hasn’t played his last game in the NRL but has already started putting things in perspective as the COVID-19 pandemic continues.

The 34-year-old English great is off contract with St George Illawarra and is uncertain of the future.

“It’s only been a day (since shut down) but I’ve had plenty of time to think about this,” Graham told NRL 360 on Tuesday night.

“I’m very empathetic towards the people around the world that are struggling at the minute and it’s put a lot of perspective on stuff.

NRL season could restart as late as September with 15-game competition

“I was talking to my nan the other day in England to see how she was. She’s 90 now and she was quick to turn the conversation to a time where she was evacuated from Liverpool to go down to a quiet village in Wales. She was a put on a train and see ya later, without knowing what she was going to come back to.

“Being a parent myself, just thinking about what that would’ve been like and we’re fortunate enough that the likelihood of this affecting kids is pretty minimal.”

Meanwhile Blues and Sharks veteran Wade Graham believes the NRL should kick start the season with State of Origin in a best case scenario.

“I think we should have Origin back in when we get that first weekend back in with the crowds to kick it back off,” Graham told Fox League.

“I think all ideas need to be explored.”
