Former Australian, Queensland and NRL wrecking ball Carl Webb has been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease at the age of 38.

The one-time Bronco, Parramatta and Cowboys forward’s condition was confirmed on Thursday.

“He was so powerful and explosive as a player, he was the strongest guy I’ve ever seen in the gym,” former teammate Gorden Tallis told foxsports.com.au.

“Then he went to the Cowboys it was totally different, he really hit his straps there.

“He was so explosive, but more importantly he’s a really good fella, he’s a champion bloke. If you played with him, you’d love him.”

Leeds Rhinos legend Rob Burrow was also recently diagnosed with MND.

Webb surged onto the scene in 2001 at Lang Park with one of the most damaging individual tries State of Origin had seen.
