Legendary broadcaster David Morrow has passed away at the age of 71 after succumbing to his battle with brain cancer.

Morrow spent many years with the ABC.

A career which spanned from 1980 until 2014, covering hundreds of games including many grand finals, Test matches, State of Origins and premiership matches along with calling different sports at Olympics and Commonwealth Games.

He then went on to become the lead caller for 2GB from 2015.

“I had the pleasure of knowing David throughout my career in sport and he was a champion in every sense of the word. I have been honoured and privileged to know him as a friend,” ARLC chairman Peter V’landys said on Wednesday.

Just last week Morrow was inducted into the NRL Hall of Fame.

“I’ve worked with a lot of people over a long time in broadcasting,” Ray Hadley said on 2GB.

“There’s no more versatile sports commentator than David Morrow.

“He will be sadly missed by everyone.”
