Newcastle Knights’ David Armstrong has reportedly decided to backflip on a new offer from the club after a shock debut in 2024 where the 23-year-old has blown fans away after replacing the injured Kalyn Ponga.

The Taree native has come from nowhere and has become a cult hero in the Hunter during Ponga’s abscence.

According to The Daily Telegraph, Armstrong has been told he was set to be pushed back to the wing when Ponga returns but has now been offered a three-year deal to continue his career in the Super League and has accepted a deal with Leigh.
