Legendary Blues coach says NSW and Zac Lomax have a big target on their backs

Legendary former New South Wales Blues coach Phil Gould has picked holes through the selections of the Blues side for Game I.

Gould questioned NSW going with four big men on the bench with no utility selected and the selection of Spencer Leniu and his ability to play longer minutes.

The mercurial tactician was also worried about Queensland attacking debutant Lac Lomax with short kicks.

“Zac can certainly chase a kick and make it happen, he can force an error and make it happen, he’s an aggressive sort of player and I’ve always liked him,” Gould said on the Six Tackles With Gus podcast.

“But Origin on the wing, gee whiz, I can imagine they will kick in behind him early.

“Whether he can turn and outsprint Hamiso (Tabuai-Fidow) or Valentine Holmes…

“I don’t know.”
