‘Lay a lot of bricks to earn $150,000’: Phil Gould predicts injured Adam Doueihi will gamble with career as return looms

Phil Gould has predicted injured Wests Tigers utility Adam Doueihi will knock back a club offer to stay at the club in 2025 despite being “five or six weeks” away from returning from a third ACL injury.

Gould, responding to news Wests Tigers have reportedly tabled a minimum wage $150,000 which would see Doueihi stay in the black, white and gold.

“He has had a terrible run with injuries and I wouldn’t even be considering any offers until he got back on the field,” Gould said on Channel Nine’s 100% Footy.

“Who has made that offer? He’d be a good buy for $150,000 but if I know Adam Doueihi, he is not signing that deal.

If he came back and played and he gets injured again, he’s got no contract for next year and that’s probably the end of him.

“They are probably playing on the fact that maybe he will take the security (and) you’ve got to lay a lot of bricks to earn $150,000, Adam.”
