Wests Tigers have conceded that they have left the South West of Sydney behind in the past but have a “strategic plan” released to members on Wednesday to rectify the issue.

Despite a recent media blitzkrieg from former Balmain Tigers legends to save Leichhardt Oval as the club’s “spiritual home”, Wests Tigers have now gone on record to fix what many thing is the main problem – Wests Tigers’ future is in Sydney’s South West.

“For many years, this club hasn’t truly given the time nor consistent effort for the need to
focus in on the South West corridor, to grow our opportunities,” the club said in the presentation.

“We intend to, by acting quickly, strategise this plan around the growth of the South West
without affecting our inner-city roots.

“In consideration of the importance of the South West corridor, we have opened a Campbelltown office located at 26 Blaxland Road. This office will allow us to further entrench the WT brand in this area. John Skandalis & Shannon Gallant among other members from our community, corporate & pathways team will be based there moving forward.”

One source close to the situation has told the81stminute.com that they believe Wests Tigers haven’t revealed everything yet.

Go Wests Tigers? Nah, just go (South) West, Tigers: Spiritual home is in the sky and it’s going to the place that’s the best

“I’m not sure Wests Tigers have shown all their cards yet,” the source said.

“It’s baby steps but it’s moving in the right direction because the club can’t keep listening to all this Balmain stuff, week-after-week, in the media.

“If they want to be Penrith, they have to start moving and pushing toward Campbelltown.”
