South Sydney Rabbitohs fullback Latrell Mitchell will miss the next three weeks after being suspended for an elbow on Shaun Johnson in the side’s 34-4 loss to the Warriors on the weekend.
It’s another death blow for head coach Jason Demetriou and South Sydney’s season.
The NRL also flagged a secondary incident where Mitchell was penalised on-field for a dangerous throw tackle.
“Latrell has been issued with a concerning act notice for that type of action,” NRL head of football Graham Annesley said.
“It didn’t warrant a charge because of the action that he took to avoid it turning into something that could’ve been much worse.”
The Rabbitohs, running dead last in 17th, host Cronulla at Homebush on Saturday night.
