Former Canberra Raiders head coach and 1994 Kangaroo tourist David Furner is set to re-join the struggling South Sydney Rabbitohs as part of their coaching stuff effective immediately according to reports.

Furner has worked on the coaching staff previously at the Rabbitohs in 2018.

Current Souths coach Jason Demetriou is under immense pressure to keep his job with the side currently sitting 17th and dead last on the NRL table.

“There is a bit to do,” Furner told The Daily Telegraph.

“For me it is an easy move – I know a lot of the staff, I know the hierarchy. I’ll be working with the forwards around their defence and things like that.

“I am keen to help out. It is good to be back in the game.”

“My wife is very happy that I have work – that means I am not home,” Furner continued.

“I am not annoying her.”

The Rabbitohs have a bye after losing to Cronulla before matches against Penrith and the Melbourne Storm.
