NRL’s head of football Graham Annesley is coming under extreme pressure from all corners of the game as officials continue to confuse and frustrate players, experts and the media with their bamboozling crackdown on the “hip drop” tackle.

Players have been sent from the field and suspended for what appear to be regular, run-of-the-mill tackles we’ve seen in the sport here in Australia since 1908.

Things are coming to a head with the Australian Rugby League Commission asking for a ‘please explain’ from Annesley over how this has been handled according to The Sydney Morning Herald.

Annesley was forced to defend himself on Sunday on Triple M after another weekend of shockers from the men in the middle and those high up in the bunker.

“…Go to the NRL website, it’s there in black and white. I talk about it every single week,” Annesley fired back to the Triple M hosts.

“I can’t be responsible for people’s confusion. It’s out there. People have to read it and understand it.”

That’s the thing.

We don’t understand where this has come from.

Rugby league is not black and white.

On Monday, Annesley was back on NRL’s media platforms trying to explain the rulings.

But it wasn’t long before social media hit back.
