St George Illawarra coach Anthony Griffin says there is “no urgency” to rush Talatau Amone back into the NRL side after the Dragons smashed Gold Coast at Kogarah on Sunday night.
The Dragons ran away 32-18 winners with Amone returning in the NSW Cup against the Bulldogs.
Amone has been given the green light to play despite a jail sentence hanging over his head for an alleged attack in the off-season.
“He’s obviously had something to deal with outside of football so it was important that he got a full game (of NSW Cup) under his belt today,” Griffin said at the press conference.
“I obviously saw him during the week when I broke the news to him.
“There was obviously a lot of relief and he was happy and had a bit of a spring in his step all week.”
The Dragons next play Brisbane at Suncorp Stadium.
