The South Sydney Rabbitohs have turned to club legend Sam Burgess in an attempt lure fellow Englishman Dom Young away from Newcastle and to Sydney to play with the Rabbitohs.

According to Channel Nine’s Danny Weidler, Burgess has been courting Young after a breakout 2022 which saw Young impress at the Knights before an impressive World Cup campaign for England at at the end of the season.

“On leave so sorry if this is already out there … Souths have been doing some serious wooing of Knights winger Dom Young over the last few days. Sam Burgess has been heavily involved in talks with him on the Gold Coast and at Byron. And now back to vacation,” Weidler tweeted.

Young is contracted for the 2023 season at the Knights but is open to a switch for the following season.
