Paul Vautin has labelled his former Wide World of Sports colleague of 30 years Ray Warren the “greatest sports broadcaster” the country has ever produced after Warren retired after over five decades calling rugby league, racing and swimming.
‘Fatty’ began his media career with Channel Nine in the early 1990’s alongside Warren.
“As a player through the 80s, you wanted to get home and watch a replay,” Vautin told 4BC.
“You had to put the VHS in in those days and you wanted to hear your name called by Ray Warren.
“It was just fantastic. History has shown over the last 30 years at Nine how good a caller he is and has been, to me, he’s the greatest sports broadcaster that Australia has ever seen and maybe the world.
“He is that good at his craft.”
