‘Swayed by the media’: Latrell Mitchell defends Fuimaono tackle and calls for changes to Match Review Committee

Suspended superstar Latrell Mitchell has called for changes to the Match Review Committee after being given a downgrade and is now set to return in round two.

The South Sydney Rabbitohs leader came to the defence of Tyrell Fuimaono with the Dragons enforcer set to miss five weeks for a dubious tackle that is set to see Parramatta winger Haze Dunster miss the entire season with an ACL injury.

“Tyrell’s tackle is a great example. I don’t think there was any intent, it was the step, the way he fell, the momentum, Mitchell told NewsCorp.

“Everyone has an opinion, and they’ll have it. I think the Match Review Committee is swayed by the media outlets. It can be a bit unfair on the player.

“They (MRC) have to take it on board and be accountable.”
