English Bulldog Luke Thompson confirms he’s not returning to the Super League any time soon

Canterbury’s English star Luke Thompson has knocked a return back to his homeland on the head as he prepares for a new campaign at Belmore with the Bulldogs.

The big prop has been plagued by disruptions since moving to the Australian competition in 2020.

Thompson has so far played 26 games for the ‘Dogs of War’.

A week in traction and a car crash before kick-off couldn’t keep Johnny Raper off the field for the 1967 preliminary final against Canterbury

In recent months media speculation linked him to a shift to both Melbourne and Wests Tigers.

But it doesn’t sound like the former St Helens star is leaving Australia anytime soon.

“I’m enjoying it, the weather is a bit better and I’m enjoying the footy,” Thompson told the KB Show.

“The competition is great and I’m looking forward to the new season.”

Thompson also compared the Super League to the NRL in the show.

“The game is so big out here [in Australia], rugby league is a bit overshadowed by football in the UK but everyone is mad about rugby league here.

“Everyone recognises you – I hadn’t played a game and someone stopped me in the street!”
