Rugby league community pays tributes as Immortal Norm Provan passes away aged 89

The rugby league world is in mourning after the game lost St George Dragons legend and Immortal Norm Provan on Wednesday night with the news breaking on Thursday.

‘Sticks’ was the cornerstone of the mighty St George outfit that won 11-straight premierships between 1956 and 1966.

Fans, experts and former players took to social media to pay homage to the giant of the sport.

“Norm Provan remains an iconic and crucial part of the St George’s rich history,” Dragons legend Craig Young told the club’s website.

“Norm was instrumental in St George’s great run of 11 premierships, a feat we will never see occur again.

“Everyone involved with St George District and the St George Illawarra Dragons wish to send their condolences to Norm’s family.”
