South Sydney Rabbitohs star Cody Walker has thanked Wayne Bennett ahead of the great coach’s final match in charge of Souths in the 2021 grand final.
Speaking on Fox League’s NRL 360 alongside Adam Reynolds (who is also leaving), Walker said Bennett’s experience at this time of the year could prove the different against Penrith.
“Wayne is a great man manager,” Walker said.
“He connects with his players on a personal level as well as a professional level. He knows how to get the best out of his players. The list goes on.
“He has quite a dry sense of humour. He makes a lot of jokes in and around the team which creates a lot of energy.
“An he’s been here before. He’s coached in the NRL for a number of years now so he is very experienced and he knows what to expect.
“He has been a pleasure to have at the club the last three years so we will definitely miss him.”
Penrith face an uphill battle with plenty of emotion going against them including Bennett, Reynolds and Benji Marshall all leaving Redfern at season’s end.
