South Sydney Rabbitohs legend Adam Reynolds is set to break one of the greatest individual records in Australian rugby league with the little halfback just 8 points away from knocking off the iconic Eric Simms as South Sydney’s greatest ever points scorer.

Simms claimed the record in 1971 from Bernie Purcell.

The magical number is 1841.

“That’s quite an achievement (breaking the record), actually,” Rabbitohs coach Wayne Bennett said.

“I think it’s probably been under played right now.

“Eric Simms is a great player, I remember him as a little boy playing for South Sydney and what a great reputation he had and everything.

“It’s been quite a record it’s been there for a long time and I can’t think of a nicer guy than Adam.

“I’m sure (Eric) would agree that he is worthy.”
