ARLC chair Peter V’landys is copping fresh criticism from fans for seemingly rubbishing the Melbourne Storm.
V’landys is in Queensland for Magic Round and continued to spruik additional teams in Queensland to The Courier-Mail but in the process appeared to disrespect the reigning premiers who have been one of the great success stories in recent history.
“Cameron Smith, the greatest player ever, was a Logan junior. He went from Brisbane to Melbourne,” V’landys said.
“If there was a second Brisbane team, would he have gone there?
“We should not be on the board if we are too scared to look at a second Brisbane team. We should not be frightened of opportunity. I am determined to grow the game.”
Funnily enough, Smith’s arrival at the Storm helped grow the game… it just wasn’t in Queensland.
