Sydney Roosters legend Bryan Fletcher has paid tribute to fellow Tricolours great Jake Friend who has reportedly played his last game in the NRL.
Friend has had several concussions in recent times and according to The Sydney Morning Herald – the Queenslander is hanging up the boots.
“What a player, three premierships, such an inspiration to that club,” Fletcher said on SEN.
“He doesn’t have to prove anything now, we’re going to see more of these, we’ll see more players retiring.
“He went to go and see some really smart people who are involved around this scene of concussions and they told him, ‘You’re going to cause damage if you keep playing’.
“He doesn’t have to prove anything, he’s been such a good club man.”
Meanwhile former NSW Blues five-eigth Josh Reynolds will miss the next six weeks of the English Super League after suffering a hamstring injury in Hull FC’s recent win over Salford.
