Benji Marshall could play on again in 2022 with South Sydney confirming to The Sydney Morning Herald that the club would offer the Kiwi legend a contract extension if Adam Reynolds does in fact leave the Bunnies.

Cowboys officials are still in Sydney after their big win over Wests Tigers and are meeting with Reynolds to offer him a three-year contract.

Marshall has been in tremendous form at Redfern and would prove a handy mentor to the young halves coming through the lower grades at Souths.

Meanwhile, Cronulla coach John Morris could walk out on the Sharks as early as this week.

The young coach has done a good job at the Sharks since taking over but many have been blindsided by the club’s moves to replace him with Roosters assistant Craig Fitzgibbon.

“Cronulla hve told John Morris they will accelerate the coaching process. Expect Craig Fitzgibbon to be confirmed as Sharks coach for next year before the weekend, potentially later today,” The Australian’s Brent Read tweeted on Tuesday.

“Up to Morris whether he remains in charge for rest of season.”
