Chief executive in the firing line as fan petition gains traction to oust Pascoe and Wests Tigers board

Over 1000 Wests Tigers members and fans have signed a change.org petition in support of ousting club CEO Justin Pascoe and the current Wests Tigers board.

The original target of 1000 signatures was changed to 1500 after the mark was crossed on Tuesday morning.

It comes with the team sitting down on 14th on the table after being trounced by Manly on the weekend 40-6.

Club officials sent mixed messages after the loss with Pascoe saying coach Michael Maguire’s job was safe while chairman Lee Lee Hagipantelis said at the same time that there were “no guarantees”.

“I’m continuing conversations with the board and everyone that’s involved at the club,” Maguire told 2GB.

“We’re very focused on delivering what everyone’s after and that’s a strong team that turns up week-in, week-out.”

Maguire – Wests Tigers’ fifth coach since 2012 – urged fans to give him time to turn around the team’s fortunes.

“When you first arrive at the club, you assess where you’re at and you obviously face all sorts of different challenges,” he continued.

Anyone want to talk about Josh Curran and the Warriors or are we all too worried about Latrell Mitchell and James Tedesco?

“I’ve had some positives since I’ve been here for sure but the big thing is taking a little bit (of time) to build the squad so it becomes a long-term successful club.

“You’ve got to look at the salary cap, how things are done around the organisation and all those sorts of things.

“It does take time.

“I’ve got a young spine at the moment, but in saying that, I’ve got a number 9 who has just played his first game last week, I’ve got a young fullback that’s just come on board in Daine Laurie.”

Meanwhile Sydney Roosters prodigy Sam Walker has rocketed to 8 Beetson Raudonikis Medal points and sits just three points shy of leaders Ryan Papenhuyzen and David Fifita.
