The NRL has confirmed the Good Friday clash between the Melbourne Storm and Brisbane Broncos at AAMI Park will go ahead after the Victorian Government gave the Broncos an exemption to enter the state for the clash.
There had been plenty of talk that the game would be shifted to Sydney to be played before the South Sydney versus Canterbury game at Stadium Australia.
“We are thrilled to confirm our Good Friday blockbuster against the Broncos will go ahead as planned,” Storm CEO Justin Rodski said.
“It has been a challenging couple of days working through the implications of the COVID situation in Brisbane, but we have been in constant contact with the NRL and Victorian Government during this period and appreciate the difficult decisions that need to be made when it comes to protecting the community from COVID.
“Thankfully, the NRL have worked through the protocols required to ensure the Broncos can secure an exemption and the game can proceed.”
