New South Wales Blues legend Andrew Johns has called on his state to rush Cody Walker into the starting side for Game I to replace Luke Keary.
Keary had a forgettable evening in Adelaide while Walker made a difference when he came onto the field.
“After what I saw tonight over the last 15 minutes, 20 minutes, Cody Walker has to start,” Johns said on Channel 9.
“I think he has to come on at five-eighth.
“He provides a lot of creativity.
“When Cody came on the field, he likes to play. Likes to get his hands on the ball, and he likes to create.
“At this standard, you only get a couple of opportunities a half.
“Especially when you’re on the back foot coming off your own tryline.
“So once you get those quick play-the-balls, you have to strike. You have to play. I thought they got bogged down, played too negative. But once Cody came on, (NSW) looked dangerous. And that’s where Queensland looked vulnerable.”
Meanwhile NSW may be without inspirational skipper Boyd Cordner for Game II in Sydney after yet another concussion at the Adelaide Oval.
The Roosters forward returned to the field but the Blues may take a cautious approach with Cordner with two more games to play.
